Muse/Part 2: Tara Greville
In the second instalment of our interview with stylist Tara Greville, we find out what it felt like styling herself in Preen Line and having the camera pointed at her for a change…
What was your favourite piece from the shoot?
The longer floral and check dress.
What was the hardest thing about having to style yourself for a change?
Standing in the cold! But also seeing yourself on camera takes a while to get used too, and something I am quite shy about, so it was quite a weird change for me!
Why are clothes important to you?
I feel like things really draw people to you, if you’re in a colourful outfit or wear lots of vibrant prints you have a good energy.
What have you been wearing a lot of at the moment?
I wear a lot of navy, I find myself wearing head to toe navy quite a lot because it’s a safe colour.
What’s your favourite project you’ve assisted on so far?
Probably working with Beyonce and being at the Grammy awards. That was pretty cool.
And what about your own work?
Myself, because I’m in such early stages every shoot is like starting again but it’s really exciting meeting lots of different photographers. It’s really gratifying.
Tell us a bit about your process when you’re preparing for a shoot.
I just get loads of references together. And because there are so many stylists now it’s really important to have your own point of view. I meet the photographer, narrow down what they want. You have to be really specific.
Do you have any style icons?
I think loads of people look great - but I don’t really idolise anyone.
