Muse/Part 1: India Rose James

India Rose James is the Queen of Soho, and our latest Preen Line muse. The 23-year old has had a big year, with the opening of her Soho Revue gallery being such a success that she’s now planning on taking it stateside. 

But before we lose Paul Raymond’s famous granddaughter to the sunny streets of LA, we caught up with her to find out about her personal style, and why each day she has to find new words to describe it.

What are you up to at the moment?

I'm still working at the Soho Revue gallery, but my next project is to move it to Los Angeles. I'm moving out there next year and hope to open "Weho Revue.”

Tell us a bit about what you do - the best/hardest/coolest thing about your job?

The best is that I get to meet so many new people. The hardest would have to be setting up a new exhibition - the stress that comes with it wasn't something I expected. And the coolest is being surrounded by art the entire time.

How has your background/where you've grown up shaped your style?

I definitely have changed my style a lot over the years.  I couldn't pin point where I got it from, I've always dressed very differently from the friends I grew up with. 

What's your favourite item from the Preen Line shoot, and why? 

The sequin hoodie by far! 

What three words would you use to describe your personal style?

I normally dress to reflect my mood of the day, so each day would be three different words. Today I'm going to LA and finally get to see my boyfriend so I'm in a great mood! So they would be, cosmic, colourful and quirky.
