Muse/Part 2: Leah Hibbert
From an England football kit to Gwen Stefani-style punk, Leah Hibbert’s sartorial transformation has been dramatic. Here, in part II of our interview, she explains how the change came about, why you should never follow trends, and why she lends clothes to her dog...
What do you/where do you go if you ever need some inspiration?
Scan Dover Street Market, look at street style around Brick Lane, visit the Tate Modern, reminisce over old family photos.
What was the last item of clothing you borrowed from a friend, who was it and why?
A full sequin outfit from my friends Josh and Ben at Latitude. I only planned to come for the day, and ended up staying all weekend! Luckily they own plenty of women's embellished pieces which are totally acceptable at festivals.
What was the last item of clothing you gave away, who to and why?
I gave a dirty pair of socks to my dog Cilla as I'm leaving her with a friend for 3 months whilst I scout the U.S. Apparently that will comfort her in my absence....
What's the most important piece of style advice you've been given?
Make sure you are comfortable. No ones cares how beautiful your dress is if you walk into the party with tears in your eyes, blisters, and gasping for breath because you squeezed yourself into a size 2...
Is there one piece of style advice you've been given, but totally ignored?
Follow trends. I couldn't be less interested.
